On 25 September 2015, the 193 members of the UN General Assembly adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that will dictate the global development agenda until 2030. At last year’s Youth Fashion Summit, more than 100 students from around the world explored how the SDGs could represent opportunities for companies to align their own sustainability goals with broader societal aims. This year, the same students were invited back to transform their ideas and demands for corporate action related to the SDGs into a draft for a UN resolution.
The students presented their resolution on stage at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit the 11 May 2017 to inspire the industry to take action. This fall, the students have been invited to present their work during the UN General Assembly in New York on September 21st.
In the months running up to the Summit, a selection of webinars provided the students with different approaches, tools and inspirations, supplemented by best practice examples. Below you can visit the webinars.
During the youth fashion summit the students were taken through a process to come up with a resolution. The resolution draft text is build on the demands formulated in Youth Fashion Summit 2016. Your can access the process cards here and you are free to download them for teaching purposes.
